To sign up, please join as a member at CodeChix.  Also see the site for details regarding the meetings - agenda and such.

Regular stuff:

  • Presentations by developers on their projects
  • Anyone who wants to be a an assistant organizer, holler...
  • And the rest of the time, let's just dive into the code or chat about work issues or investigate new fangled ideas or discuss some new tech one of us has come across...

Oh yeah, feel free to bring food to munch on and share.  Dry snacks, fruit and finger food is best since all we usually have in terms of cutlery is fingers and napkins... :)

Looking forward to another educational and invigorating groupUp!

May the code be with you!

- Rupa

About Us

We are a bunch of  like-minded, brainy chicks who like to get together about once a month and talk about work, bring our own projects to code or help with someone else's project.  This group is for women (software or hardware) who want to share their knowledge and learn from one another in a technical environment.   This group is intended to help us sharpen our skills and learn new skills from each other.  We try to keep a good balance between learning and sharing so everyone has an opportunity to grow and contribute.  Apart from coding and technical know-how sharing, we also discuss personnel/interaction issues at work and get feedback from other members.  So, do spread the word and here's to a great network of Silicon Valley CodeChixers......

Some more tidbits

The format of the meetups is relaxed and friendly.  The goal is to keep it loose and free so that ideas and information exchanges flow freely and everyone feels included and like they learned and/or contributed something at each meetup.  Any suggestions on how to do things better or introduce something that people feel they would like to try or have tried and already like are great, so please don't be shy about speaking up if you want to see some changes if you feel it would be more suited to the general premise of this meetup group.

Comments... Sept meeting at the Dojo - great turnout and had a chance to meet new and fascinating women in tech. Amazing stuff.
Also a few practical tips on what (not) to include in conference presentations, such as lolcats or other graphic artifacts; file conversion challenges between OpenOffice and Word for advanced formatting - like books; cool startup job website that looks incredibly friendly and handwritten - and spelling matters on URLs; what to include on a resume; netbook preferences; new Nokia products in mobile computing; Open Source, Open Source, Open Source.... ; GIMP; best small Linux distro; Ubuntu skins - Hannah Montana or Hello Kitty wars - are these official licenses, or what? And, of course stuff about our summer vacations - exotic spots like - Africa, Australia and San Francisco... Did I mention food? Chocolate and fruit - great combo. Great group. Looking forward to next month.
